As a wedding photographer, I get to have a front row seat to all the amazing moments and relationships during a special wedding day. This wonderful wedding day was no different. I went to college with Sadee’s sister and have gotten to know the family over the last few years. I was so thrilled to get the chance to capture this big day for Sadee and Joey. Sadee met Joey in high school while she was working at Coldstone. They became best friends and they never really saw it progressing into anything romantic. After a few casual dates, everything started to change. Emotions grew faster than either could believe and Joey bought her wedding ring before they were even officially dating. Joey surprised Sadee with a Christmas Eve proposal. Joey made a sign out of all the pictures of he and Sadee that spelled out the words “Marry Me” and placed her ring in a decorative ball on his parents Christmas tree. Sadee couldn’t wait to accept his hand in marriage. Joey is the guy who keeps Sadee grounded and loved. He knows exactly how to make a bad day better and he’s the person that makes her laugh. I’m so glad I get to be apart of their love story.
Their wedding day was a gorgeous summer day. Emotions were high as the bridesmaids helped put the finishing touches on Sadee’s bridal look and the groomsmen were there to help out and keep the fun of the wedding day alive. We found out early in the day that none of the men knew how to tie their ties, so Sadee’s brother-in-law had to step in. At one point they even had to preform a chokehold to get a tight shirt neck to button up. They had me laughing all night long. After bridesmaid and groomsmen portraits, a beautiful ceremony took place in a gorgeous lawn overlooking the river. Joey’s face was full of joy as he watched his sweet heart walk down the isle toward him and toward their forever. They exchanged simple and sweet vows and beautiful rings to promise themselves to each other forever. Their first kiss as husband and wife even included a cute little dip. The Dolores Community Center was the perfect mix of indoor and outdoor space for a beautiful wedding. We had a blast with couple and family portraits over by the river. The party continued all night long as the groomsmen hit the dance floor and seemed to never get tired. I don’t think I’ve seen a group of better dancers at a wedding ever!! Made me want to start dancing too! The main feeling I left with from this wedding was the amazing and special relationships that I could feel that the bridal party had with the couple. You could just tell that this couple is very loved and everyone was so happy to be there to celebrate them and cheer them on in the next phase of their lives.
I loved getting to travel to Colorado for this wedding!! My family and I even got to explore Mesa Verde National Park the morning of the wedding. I love how this job gives me amazing opportunities to see the world and share it with people I love. I will admit that the words from Ashley S. from the Bachelor kept coming into my mind every time I heard the words “Mesa Verde!”;)
